lyrics

I’ve been trying to lead the life of a righteous man
Stear clear of temptation the best I could
But everywhere I go nobody seems to understand
They look me up and down and say I’m no good

There’s been days in my life where I’m almost gone
Lost without guidance or so it seems
I’ve been looking for salvation where there is none
These visions of hell haunting my dreams

Chorus 1
People talking - no one knows me
And they all call me the sinner

Preacherman tells me I’m goin’ nowhere
The devil has a seat picked out for me
My daddy doesn’t know me, my mama don’t care
But the sinful life I lead has set me free

Chorus 2
People talking - no one knows me
And they all call me the sinner
Whiskey bottles - shady ladies
Come to the hand of the sinner

SOLO

Now someday soon I know I’m gonna go away
The end is now in sight for this poor man
But will I see the heavens on that final day
Or spend eternity as the devil’s right hand

Chorus 2 rep. x2
